ROZ RITTER
|
Artist Statement rozritart@gmail.com The tapestry of my life is reflected in my artwork. Using clothing that I have inherited, I tell the story of my family through hand embroidery and appliqué. I draw inspiration from my maternal grandmother who was a seamstress in the summer palace of Franz Joseph during the Ottoman Empire, my father who was a haberdasher to the stars, the Bayeaux Tapestry and historical American samplers. As memory is selective, so is the telling of my story. |
